Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a drunk man brutally thrashed his son with a stick at his house in Chatrinaka in the old city on Saturday.

The man, identified as Ashok Ghante, 38, who works as a salesman at a shop in Troop Bazaar, lived along with his wife, a son and daughter at his house in Chatrinaka. According to the police, on Saturday afternoon, when the man and the children were in the house, the boy reportedly did some mischief, following which Ghante took a stick and began beating the child indiscriminately.

In a video that is being circulated in social media, the child is seen pleading with his father to stop assaulting him even as the man keeps on brutally thrashing him. Another child is also heard pleading with him to stop, but Ghante goes on to beat the child even after the stick breaks and the child tries to hide under the bed. The video was reportedly shot by a neighbor, who alerted the police as well.

“The man was in an inebriated condition. The child, aged around eight years, was shifted to hospital and a case has been booked against Ghante,” Chatrinaka Inspector Abdul Khader Jilani said.
