Man dies after falling into septic tank while collecting flowers for Bathukamma in Hayathnagar
A 59-year-old man, S Ashok Reddy, died after accidentally falling into a septic tank while collecting flowers for Bathukamma celebrations in Hayathnagar, Hyderabad. Police, along with DFR and Hyderabad Water Board officials, recovered the body and are investigating the incident.

Hyderabad: A joyful preparation for the ‘Bathukamma’ festivities turned tragic when a man accidentally fell into a septic tank and died allegedly while collecting flowers in Hayathnagar on Monday.
The victim, S Ashok Reddy (59) from Sheriguda village in Yadadri district was staying with his wife Sumathi in the Commercial Taxes Colony at Hayathnagar. The couple’s two sons are settled abroad, one in the United States and the other in Canada.
According to the police, on Monday afternoon, Ashok Reddy set out to collect flowers, about 100 meters from his residence, for the Saddula Bathukamma celebrations. When he did not return till evening, his wife and local residents started searching for him, but failed to trace his whereabouts.
The family later approached the Hayathnagar police, who tracked his mobile phone signal and discovered that he had fallen into a septic tank nearby.
With the help of Hyderabad Water Board and Disaster Response Force personnel, the body was recovered.
Police are investigating.
