Man drowns in NSP canal while saving his children in Khammam

Khammam: In a tragic incident, a man drowned in NSP canal while rescuing his children from drowning in the canal in Mudigonda mandal in Khammam district on Sunday.
The incident took place at Medepalli village in the mandal when the deceased Kollu Suresh (45), who runs a medical shop in the village, took his daughter and son for a swim in the canal.
According to sources, the water flow in the canal increased suddenly while they were swimming. Sensing danger, he managed to save his children but he himself was washed away. The locals fished out his body after two hours of search.
Mudigonda police booked a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
In another incident, a five year old boy, Kukka Eashwar, was killed when a cement window fell on him accidentally at a cement windows and doors manufacturing unit at Penuballi mandal headquarters in the district.
