Man duped of Rs 21 lakh on matrimonial site by impersonators
The suspects allegedly used fake identities and also impersonated noted actors from Pakistan to build trust and had emotionally manipulative conversations with the complainant

Hyderabad: A man from the city was duped by cyber fraudsters to the tune of Rs 21 lakh on a popular matrimonial site on the promise of marriage.
The complainant, a resident of Bahadurpura, while searching for a suitable bride on a matrimonial site, expressed interest in a profile and sent a request. As per available information, two individuals introduced themselves as a prospective bride and her sister and started chatting with him.
The suspects allegedly used fake identities and also impersonated noted actors from Pakistan to build trust and had emotionally manipulative conversations. They further shared forged medical reports and other documents claiming their mother was seriously ill and requested money for treatment and medical expenses, promising to repay them.
They collected a total of Rs 21.7 lakh and stopped responding. The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police are investigating.
