Hyderabad: A man was found murdered at his house in New Mirjalguda in Malkajgiri here on Saturday. Police suspect that he was hacked to death with a sickle by the unidentified assailants.
The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar Reddy (32), who worked for the Indian Railways was attacked on his neck, head and back with the sickle. He suffered grievous bleeding injuries and died on the spot.
According to the police, Vijay Kumar’s parents, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, were being treated at the Railway Hospital in Tarnaka and he was staying alone in the house.
Police suspect that during the early hours of the day, the assailants, who could be known to the victim, came to the house and after an argument between them over an unknown issue, they hacked him to death.
The Malkajgiri police, who received information from the neighbours, reached the spot and found his body lying on the bed. They shifted it to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy. Efforts are on to gather more details about the victim and disputes and nab the killers, officials said.
