Adilabad: A man from Mancherial was arrested on charges of duping the public on the pretext of selling tractors at subsidised prices in Utnoor on Monday.
Utnoor Inspector Madavi Prasad said Kamera Chandramouli from Chandravelli had allegedly collected Rs 12 lakh from four farmers by promising to sell tractors and weed-cutting machines at a 50 per cent discount through Bharat Kisan Welfare Foundation, a Mancherial-based voluntary organisation.
Chandramouli confessed to collecting the money after winning the farmers’ trust by claiming that he was the manager of a farmer producer company. He targeted farmers looking for tractors and agricultural equipment, police said.
