Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A court here on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 for murdering his wife and then trying to pass it off as a road accident three years ago.
SP Nitika Pant, in a statement, said the District and Sessions Court judge convicted Thodasam Shyamrao of Chichupalli after finding him guilty of killing his wife, Sandhyarani, by bludgeoning her to death and then staging the incident as a road accident.
Earlier, Shyamrao had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Sandhyarani was killed on the spot after an unidentified vehicle mowed her down when he got down from his bike to retrieve her mobile phone, which had fallen to the ground, at 9 pm. However, Sandhyarani’s father later accused Shyamrao of murdering her, suspecting her fidelity.
Pant commended then Wankidi Inspector B Srinivas, present Asifabad DSP Ashok and Wankidi Inspector S Venugopal, SI D Mahender and other police officials for meticulously gathering evidence and securing the conviction in the case.
