Man gets lifer for murdering wife in Nirmal
Balaji was booked for allegedly attempting to murder Navaneetha by dousing her body with kerosene and setting fire, suspecting her fidelity for speaking to someone over the phone.
Nirmal: A court in Nirmal on Tuesday sentenced a man to lifetime imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 by convicting him for murdering his wife by setting her ablaze four years ago.
Nirmal district session court judge A Karnakumar pronounced the verdict awarding the life term and fine against Sheelewar Balaji from Siranji village in Maharashtra by finding him guilty for killing his wife Navaneetha of Belgaon village in Kubheer mandal on October 1, 2020.
Balaji was booked for allegedly attempting to murder Navaneetha by dousing her body with kerosene and setting fire, suspecting her fidelity for speaking to someone over the phone. Navaneetha died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on October 12 of the same year. The couple had two sons aged 7 and 5.
The then Bhainsa Inspector P Chandrashekhar took up investigations and filed a chargesheet before the court.
