Adilabad: A local court on Wednesday sentenced a farmer to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 8,000 for raping a woman under the pretext of marriage eight years ago.
The First Additional Court Judge, Dr. P. Shivaramprasad, pronounced the verdict against Kinaka Jalpath Rao of Pathaguda village in Bela mandal after finding him guilty of sexually exploiting a woman from Babejhari village in Narnoor mandal by falsely promising to marry her on June 5, 2017.
Following a complaint from the survivor, then Narnoor Sub-Inspector K. Srikanth registered a case and took up the investigation. A charge sheet was later filed, establishing Rao’s offence.
