Hyderabad: While many have heard the story of the Taj Mahal being a symbol of love, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz, a man from Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur has given life to that love story once again by gifting an exact replica of the Taj Mahal to his wife.
Anand Kumar Chouksey always wondered why the monument was not built in his city, Burhanpur, as Shah Jahan’s wife Mumtaz had died in that city. And this thought drove the man to build a plush home which looks like an exact replica of the Taj Mahal.
However, mentioning an added reason for building a Taj Mahal replica, Chouksey said, “One day my wife sarcastically asked me what I can do for her. I said I will build a Taj Mahal to show you my love for you and here it is.”
After studying the monument built in Agra thoroughly, Anand Kumar built a 4BHK house, which looks exactly like Taj Mahal from the outside, for his wife Manjusha Chouksey, in an area of 8,100 sq ft in Burhanpur.
The replica of the iconic monument took over three years to build and Anand sought help from the artists from Bengal and Indore for the carving inside the house.
A report also revealed that the dome of the house is at a height of 29 feet and even has Taj Mahal-like minars (towers) on the four corners. Additionally, the floor of this replica house has been made with ‘Makrana’ marble of Rajasthan, while the furniture has been prepared by artisans in Mumbai.
The house comprises a big hall, two bedrooms downstairs, two bedrooms upstairs, a library and a meditation room. Chouksey even got similar lighting for his house so that his house shines in the dark, just like the real Taj Mahal.
So, what do you think of this unique gift?
