Mancherial: A 27-year-old employee of a private firm was arrested on Friday for allegedly cheating scores of women under the guise of providing them constable jobs. The police seized Rs 58,000 cash, a mobile phone and receipts of cash collected from victims from his possession.
Producing him before the media here, Mancherial Deputy Commissioner D Uday Kumar Reddy said the accused, Bhukya Tirupathi, is a native of Gudipet hamlet under Jendavenkatapur village in Nennal mandal. He was detained while moving suspiciously in Mancherial town. The complainant was Sudula Mounika, a resident of Indaram village in Jaipur mandal.
During interrogation, Tirupati confessed that he cheated 10 women by promising to provide jobs with Telangana Police Department’s women safety wing by collecting Rs 2 lakh. The youngster disclosed that he won the trust of around 70 aspirants by running an institute and giving coaching to them by renting a house in Mancherial town for a week. He revealed that he had published an advertisement in newspapers and social media platforms promising to provide placements. He stated that he registered losses by a voluntary organisation — Amma Orphanage Welfare Society in Warangal in March last.
Mounika approached Mancherial police when she realised that she was duped by Tirupati. Accordingly, police formed a special team comprising Inspector B Srinivas and Sub-Inspector D Kiran, who laid a special focus on the activities of Tirupati and arrested him.
