Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police on Wednesday arrested a man working at a Chinese fast food joint for harassing his sister’s friend by sending abusive messages to her on social media.
The arrested person was identified as Chatri Shyam (30), a native of West Bengal, working at a fast food joint in Turkapally and a resident of Bhongir.
According to the police, about two months ago, Shyam secretly took the victim’s number from his sister’s mobile phone contact list and saved it in his phone. In December last year, he called her from two of his phone numbers, but she did not answer. He then downloaded obscene pictures of unknown women from the internet and in the first week of January, sent them to the victim on WhatsApp.
“He also sent vulgar and abusive voice messages to her. Though she requested him to stop harassing her, he continued to and also threatened her for avoiding him,” police said.
Unable to take the harassment, she approached the Rachakonda Cybercrime police, who booked a case and arrested Shyam.
