Man held within hours after chain snatching
A man posing as an AC technician attacked a woman and robbed her gold chain after entering her apartment in LB Nagar. Police arrested the suspect within hours using CCTV footage and recovered the stolen gold

Hyderabad: A man who attacked a woman and allegedly robbed her gold chain after gaining entry into her apartment on the pretext of air-conditioner repair was arrested within hours by LB Nagar police on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Abrar Ahmed, a resident of Chanchalguda, had planned to commit thefts for easy money. On Friday around 4 pm, he entered an apartment in Rock Hills Colony in LB Nagar and approached Praveena Reddy, a school teacher.
According to the police, posing as a technician who had come for AC repair at a neighbouring flat, he requested to keep his luggage inside her house. Once inside, he suddenly attacked her with a hammer and fled with a 25-gram gold chain.
The victim immediately alerted police by dialling 100. She was shifted to a nearby private hospital in LB Nagar with minor injuries.
The LB Nagar police examined CCTV footage in the surroundings and traced the suspect later when he was found loitering suspiciously near another apartment in the same area. He was taken into custody.
During questioning, he confessed to the crime and the stolen gold was recovered from him.
