Man killed in hit and run incident in Hyderabad’s Balanagar

A man was killed in a hit-and-run at Hyderabad’s Balanagar flyover around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. While responding to the scene, probationary SI S. Venkatesham was injured by another speeding vehicle. Police have launched efforts to trace both drivers.

Hyderabad: In a hit-and-run incident, an unidentified vehicle mowed down a man at the Balanagar flyover on Tuesday morning.

As per available information, the victim who is yet to be identified was walking around 3am, when the rashly driven vehicle proceeding towards Balanagar ‘Y’ junction hit him. He suffered multiple grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Other motorists passing by the route informed the Balanagar police, who reached the spot and took up investigation.

Probation SI injured:

A probation Sub-inspector S Venkatesham, who was on night duty along with the staff had reached the accident spot to shift the victim’s body to the hospital. During the process, another rashly driven heavy vehicle hit the officer.

Venkatesham suffered injuries to head and legs and was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital, where he is being treated. His condition is said to be stable.

Separate cases were booked by Balanagar police. Efforts are on to identify and nab the vehicle drivers.
