Hyderabad: A young man was murdered, allegedly by a couple who slit his throat at Mallapur in Nacharam here on Tuesday morning. An alleged extramarital affair is suspected to have led to the murder, police said.
The suspect couple, identified as Moin Khan (27), a bag seller at Secunderabad and his wife Neha Begum (25), along with their three children, residents of Naga Laxmi Nagar in Mallapur, had earlier lived in Warasiguda. According to the police, during their stay there, Neha Begum got acquainted with one Sohail (22) from the same neighbourhood and they started talking and moving closely. When Moin Khan learnt about their intimacy, he moved to Naga Laxmi Nagar.
“Even after moving to the new place, Sohail is believed to have started secretly meeting Neha in her husband’s absence. Recently, Moin Khan learnt about it and the couple fought over the issue,” said T.Kiran Kumar, Inspector (Nacharam), adding that Neha had also approached the police and lodged a harassment complaint against Sohail on August 3. The case was under investigation and he was absconding.
Officials said the couple is suspected to have called Sohail to their house in the early hours on Tuesday. The couple allegedly dragged him into a vacant room near their house and slit his throat with a knife. Sohail died on the spot and the couple fled, police said, adding that based on a complaint from the house owner, a case was booked and the couple was taken into custody. The police however are yet to announce the arrest.
The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
