Karimnagar: A 19-year-old girl, who went missing one week ago, was found dead on Saturday. She was killed allegedly by her boyfriend.
Though the incident took place three days ago, it came to light with the arrest of the man. The decomposed body of the girl was found on hillocks near Chenjarla of Manakondur mandal. According to police, Edelli Varalaxmi, a native of Mannempalli of Thimmapur mandal and Asoda Akhil of Porandla village, were in a relationship for the past five years.
Knowing about their love affair, the family members of the girl refused to accept her relation with the man. The duo was directed by the elders at a panchayat held two years ago, to stay separately. However, Varalaxmi went missing from her home on January 2. Then. the girl’s mother lodged a missing complaint with LMD police.
As they failed to find the whereabouts of the girl despite investigation, police took Akhil into custody for questioning. Furing the interrogation, Akhil confessed to killing of Varalaxmi. He admitted that he killed Varalaxmi as she mounted pressure on him to marry her. On Saturday morning, police took the accused to spot where the decomposed body of the girl was found. Additional DCP (law and order) S Srinivas, who visited the scene of crime, said Akhil killed his girlfriend as she pressured him for marriage. Complete details would be known in the investigation, he said.
