Kothagudem: The Sujatha Nagar police in the district cracked the mystery surrounding the death of a woman and arrested her son for the alleged murder. He was reportedly upset over her extramarital affair.
Sub-Inspector of Police Ramadevi, speaking to the media on Wednesday, said that on January 25 afternoon, they received a ‘Dial 100’ call from the locals about the suspicious death of a 45-year-old woman, Bandi Sujatha at her residence at Old Nimmalagudem in Sujatha Nagar mandal.
After an inquest and postmortem, a case of suspicious death was registered and an inquiry was launched into the case. Police found injuries on the neck of the deceased.
During investigations the police came to know about the role of the woman’s son Bandi Pavan in her death, the SI said.
The accused was taken into custody on Tuesday and during interrogation he confessed to his crime. In his statement to the police, Pavan said that he had warned his mother against her relationship with another man but she ignored it.
Pavan said as he found his mother and the man in the house in the early hours of January 25, he tried to attack the man but was prevented by his mother.
Then in a fit of rage, he strangled her to death with a rope and tried to depict her death as a natural one.
The arrested man was remanded and further investigation was being done by CI Venkateshwarlu.
