Kothagudem: A man allegedly killed his wife and later died by suicide, leaving their two school-going daughters orphaned in Papakollu gram panchayat of Julurpad mandal in the district.
The man, Daravath Gopi (39), a farmer of Mutyalamma Colony in the gram panchayat, is accused of taking his wife Sunitha (37) to their farm field on Monday and hacking her to death. Later, he went absconding.
As they did not return home even after sunset, their family members began searching for them and found Sunitha dead at the farm late at night. Suspecting Gopi’s role in Sunitha’s death, the local CI Sri Lakshmi, SI Badavath Ravi and staff started searching for him.
The locals found Gopi dead in agriculture fields on the outskirts of the village on Tuesday and informed the police. He was said to have consumed pesticide to end his life. Family disputes were believed to be the reason behind Gopi’s violent action. The police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
