Mancherial: The town police have launched a man hunt to nab a retired coal miner who was believed to have axed his wife to death, suspecting her to be a sorcerer causing illness to him.
This bizarre incident was reported from Narsingapur village in Jaipur mandal on Thursday early morning.
Lingaiah, a retired employee of the Singareni Company Collieries Limited (SCCL) was stated to have suspected that his wife Kantham Laxmi (55) was practising sorcery. He also believed that she was the sole reason for his frequent illness, police said. In the early hours of Thursday, he was alleged to have wielded an axe and attacked her while she was asleep. She received injuries on her head and died instantly. Lingaiah later fled,
Based on a complaint lodged by Laxmi’s son Venugopal, a case was registered against Lingaiah. Investigations were underway. A search was launched for nabbing the accused.
