Man shoots brother-in-law with air gun in Kothagudem

Ahmed said his family was facing a threat from Jeelani and wanted the police to protect his family. The police have booked a case in connection with the incident and are investigating.

Kothagudem: A man shot his brother-in-law with an air gun, injuring him on the knee, at Paloncha in Kothagudem district.

The injured man was Siraj Ahmed of old Paloncha. He told the media on Saturday that his brother-in-law, Jeelani, of Kakaravai village of Tirumalayapalem mandal in Khammam district, who married his sister some time ago, was troubling her daily as he was addicted to alcohol. A couple of days ago, Ahmed brought his sister back to her maternal home. Jeelani, who was upset at Ahmed’s action, came to old Paloncha during the wee hours of Saturday along with his friends and attacked him.When Ahmed tried to run away, Jeelani shot him with his air gun and a metal pellet struck his knee. Doctors told Ahmed that a surgery had to be done to remove the pellet. He lodged a complaint with Paloncha town police against Jeelani.
