Man slapped by woman SI attempts suicide in Jagtial

Jagtial: A youngster tried to immolate himself, allegedly upset over being manhandled by a Sub-Inspector. The attempt was on Sunday and with the condition of the youngster, Shivaprasad, deteriorating, he was shifted to Gandhi hospital.
His sister Prashanthi released a video from the hospital, alleging that her brother had attempted suicide after being manhandled by Korutla SI Swetha. A resident of Manchinillabavi area of Jagtial town, Shivaprasad got married to Kavitha from Korutla town. The couple, who have two children, frequently quarreled with each other during the last few years. Kavitha lodged a complaint against her husband with the Korutla police on September 19. On September 22, Shivaprasad was summoned to Korutla police station for counseling.
During the time of counseling, SI Swetha reportedly thrashed Shivaprasad. Unable to tolerate the humiliation, Shivaprasad doused himself with petrol at his residence the same day and tried to immolate himself. Family members shifted him to a local hospital from where he was referred to Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition was stated to be serious.
