Hyderabad: A man died after his throat was slit by his friend following a tiff over a financial issue, at Musheerabad on Thursday night.
The victim, Sonu (27), who migrated to the city from Varanasi six years ago, was staying in a rented house at Musheerabad and was working at a carpentry shop in Bharat Nagar. According to the police, Sonu and the suspect Altaf Khan (28), who works at a mutton shop in Musheerabad, were friends and often had liquor together. A few months ago, Sonu took a loan of Rs 2,000 from Khan.
“He failed to repay the money and Khan started pressurizing him for it. Sonu kept postponing, which angered Khan,” police said, adding that on Thursday night, the two had liquor and ended up fighting over the issue. Khan is said to have taken a butcher’s knife from the shop and slit Sonu’s throat, killing him on the spot. He then surrendered to the police.
The Musheerabad police booked a case and were investigating. Khan was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
