Hyderabad: State government would develop Manair river as the best tourist spot in the country, said Backward Classes Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar here on Saturday.
Reviewing the progress of works pertaining to the Manair River Front (MRF) with officials of Irrigation, Revenue and Tourism departments here, the Minister discussed various issues such as land acquisition and construction of retaining wall apart from finalisation of Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The Minister discussed construction of retaining wall along with its height, width and depth even if 80,000 cusecs to 3.50 lakh cusecs of water is released. Officials analysed 100 years of data of the river before taking a final decision on constructing the wall.
Kamalakar examined designs submitted by the agency, which is conducting the survey at the river. The construction works were proposed up to 15 km as part of the project. But in the first phase, the construction would be taken till four km only.
The Minister instructed officials to complete all the designs after completing field-level inspections with the officials of Irrigation and Command Area Development (CAD) Department. He asked authorities to come up with complete designs by December by setting up a team with officials of Irrigation and Tourism departments.
He instructed the agency to expedite works of preparing designs to enable officials to call for tenders for commencing the works at the earliest. The Minister clarified that there was no shortage of funds for the prestigious Manair River Front project taken up by the State government.
Plans have been drawn up to provide world-class hospitality facilities, children’s park, water fountains, boating, walking and cycling track among other amenities. Necessary steps would be taken to reduce flooding to a maximum extent by constructing the retaining wall.
