Mancherial: Doctors at Agastya Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) performed a rare surgery on a boy who suffered a comminuted supracondylar fracture on his elbow, using modern technology here on Tuesday.
Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Srinivas Yeggana told reporters that they had carried out the surgery on the elbow of eight-year-old Adyan from Coal Chemical Complex (CCC) colony in Naspur mandal. “The boy fractured his elbow in a road accident. He visited several hospitals across Telangana for treatment, but in vain. He was experiencing severe pain caused by flawed realignment and non-union of bones. He approached AIMS hospital recently. We examined him and performed the complex surgery called Modified French Osteotomy,” Dr Srinivas explained.
The specialist of joint replacement said the cost of the surgery was comparatively affordable at AIMS, which was equipped with advanced operation theatre and a team of experienced doctors. He stated that they were taking up tough cases relating to joint replacement, limb reconstruction and spine straightening.
The boy’s parents expressed gratitude to Srinivas and his team for the surgery.
