Mancherial: The body of a newly born baby girl was found in thorny bushes on the outskirts of Naspur mandal centre on Friday.

Locals said the toddler must have been born two to three days ago. They believe that some unmarried girl who delivered it may have dumped the body to suppress the birth and to avoid criticism from society. They alerted local policemen about the incident.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Mancherial area hospital for an autopsy. A cas was booked and investigations were taken up.

On April 18, a newly born baby girl, who was abandoned by an unknown person in the bushes, was rescued by a woman at Palsi village in Kubheer mandal of Nirmal district.
