Mancherial: A carpenter was arrested for burglary at his house owner’s home in Mancherial on Tuesday. A total of Rs 3.50 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 10 tolas and 76 grams of silver ornaments, a mobile phone and an auto-rickshaw were seized from his possession. The value of the property is assessed to be Rs 8 lakh.
Mancherial Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan said that the accused was Kothakondda Anil Kumar, a carpenter by profession and an auto-rickshaw driver of Sai Ram Nagar in the town. Anil was detained while trying to flee upon noticing policemen during a vehicle check carried out by Mancherial police at ACC Colony in the district headquarters on Tuesday.
During the interrogations, Anil confessed to committing the burglary at his owner’s home to make fast bucks on October 13. He admitted that he was helping the woman landlord and won her trust over a period of time. He revealed that he decamped with the gold, silver ornaments and cash by entering the house when the rear door was kept open.
The police urged the public to verify the credentials and background of renters with the help of police. They requested them to share information of suspicious persons with the cops. Police sought the citizens to install CCTV cameras to improve surveillance and to prevent crimes.
