Mancherial court sentences youth to 20 years for raping differently-abled minor
A fast track court in Mancherial sentenced a young student to 20 years in prison for raping a differently-abled girl in 2022. The court also directed Rs. 7 lakh compensation to the victim through the DLSA.

Mancherial: A Fast Track Court for POCSO cases in Mancherial on Thursday sentenced a 19-year-old student to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 12,500 for raping a hearing and speech impaired girl three years ago.
Judge Lal Singh Naik delivered the judgement against Mangarapu Yashwanth of Kothagudem in Bheemaram, finding him guilty of the offence committed on April 26, 2022. The court examined eyewitness accounts and other evidence before pronouncing the verdict.
The judge also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to sanction Rs.7 lakh as compensation to the victim. The case was registered by then Sub-Inspector B Ashok following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
Deputy Commissioner of Police A Bhaskar commended the police officials and special public prosecutor Surender Upadyaya for ensuring conviction in the case.
