Cyclists paricipated in cyclothon in Kawal Tiger Reserve in Tadlapet reserve in Jannaram mandal on Sunday
Mancherial: The forest department organised a cyclothon to promote sustainable lifestyle, cycling and to create awareness among the public to mark World Wildlife Week, in Kawal Tiger Reserve at Tadlapet range in Jannaram mandal on Sunday.
Wearing safety gear, 25 cyclists from several parts of Mancherial, Nirmal and Karimnagar took part in the event. They covered a distance of 25 km in the forest from 7 am to 10 am.
“The undulating terrain of the reserve offered a pleasant ride for the bikers. Cycling in the wild was a unique experience. Unlike rides in Hyderabad and other towns, it was not just outdoor activity, but an adventurous one,” Rakesh Reddy, a cyclist from Nirmal remarked.
The cyclothon passed through Aladri, Dandepalli, Lingapur, Pathamamidipalli and Makulpet beats before culminating at the Tadlapet forest range office. The cyclists were given fruits, ORS sachets and provided with breakfast. A vehicle of the forest department comprising officials trailed the cyclists to ensure their safety.
Jannaram in-charge Forest Range Officer Sushma Rao, Indanpalli Forest Range Officer Hafeezuddin and other forest officials were present.
