Mancherial: An electrician was arrested on charges of lifting motor bikes in several parts of Mancherial and selling the same on popular online marketplace here on Wednesday. Nine two-wheelers worth Rs 4 lakh were recovered from his possession.
In-charge Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan said that the accused person was Kota Ravi, a 24-year old hailing from Mallampet village in Kotapalli mandal and resident of Gopalwada in Mancherial district headquarters. Ravi was detained while moving suspiciously at IB Chowk during a vehicle check carried out by Sub-Inspector A Gangaram.
On being interrogated, Ravi confessed to committing crimes to lead a lavish lifestyle. He admitted that he was lifting motorbikes using his expertise gained through the occupation of the electrician. He revealed that he was stealing two-wheelers parked in front of residences in Mancherial. He disclosed that he was selling the vehicles on the online platform.
The IPS commended Mancherial Inspector B Naraya Naik and CCS Inspector D Mohan for recovering property from the accused person and Sub-Inspectos Gangaram, D Mahender, Head Constable, staffers B Diwakar, G Satheesh, K Srinivas, T Sunil and V Srinivas for arresting the bikelifter.
ACP Sadhana Rashmi Perumal, Inspector Narayana Naik and SI Gangaram were present.
