Mancherial: A special court for women’s cases in Adilabad sentenced a man to life imprisonment and fined Rs 2.60 lakh on Monday after convicting him in a sexual assault case against a woman and her daughter.
VI Additional Sessions Court Women Judge Jaya Prasad pronounced the verdict against SK Anwar, a resident of Bellampalli town. The judge delivered his verdict after cross-examining witnesses and evidences produced before the court by investigating officials.
Public prosecutor K Sriram said that Anwar (26) was booked for allegedly raping a woman and her daughter after threatening to kill them on April 4, 2017. The then Inspector Nagaraju registered a case and took up investigation. He gathered evidence and special teams were formed to nab the accused, who was arrested.
Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana appreciated the investigating officer, ASI Zaheeruddin and court duty officer K Bhaskar for playing a vital role in conviction of the accused in the case. He said that no one can escape from the law after committing a crime.
