Mancherial: The death toll in the Naspur road accident has climbed to six, with another young woman succumbing to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Karimnagar on Saturday.

Police said Salluri Anusha (20), from Gudipalli Venkatapur, died during treatment at a private hospital by 10 am. She had been admitted to the hospital after her condition deteriorated on September 28. She was among seven persons who sustained serious injuries when an auto-rickshaw rammed into a lorry in Naspur on Monday morning.

Earlier, Ramtenki Divya Vani (33), a native of Gudipelli Venkatapur village in Mandamarri mandal, breathed her last while undergoing treatment in Warangal on September 29. On September 28, Thatipelli Soniya (20), of Dharmaraopet, and Thogari Sumalatha (25), from Gudipet Venkatapur, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in Mancherial.

On the day of the accident, two women, identified as Aggu Soundarya (38) and Chintakuntla Laxmi (38), from Gidipet Venkatapur, were killed instantly. The victims were saleswomen employed at shopping malls in Mancherial town and were on their way to work when the mishap occurred.

Police suspected that negligence by the three-wheeler driver caused the accident. According to CCTV footage, he lost control while attempting a sudden U-turn after a two-wheeler entered the road at a junction. A lorry approaching from the opposite direction collided with the auto-rickshaw, leading to the fatal crash.
