Mancherial police book case over circulation of fake Rs 500 notes
Police in Mancherial district registered a case against unidentified persons for circulating counterfeit currency in Luxettipet town. Fifteen fake Rs 500 notes were detected at local shops, leading to the detention of three suspects from Itikyala village.

Mancherial: A case was registered against unidentified persons for circulating fake currency notes in Luxettipet town on Friday.
Police said a case was booked after detection of counterfeit currency notes at different commercial establishments in the town, and investigations were taken up. It is learnt that the police detained three persons from Itikyala village for their suspected role in circulating counterfeit currency notes. Further details are awaited.
Police detected 15 fake Rs 500 notes at a supermarket and a wine store in the town within a week, shocking traders and residents. The operator of a bakery, the owner of a drug store and 20 others from the town are being interrogated in connection with the circulation of the fake notes. A search was launched to nab the mastermind and others who allegedly played a crucial role in circulating the counterfeit currency.
It is alleged that fake currency worth over Rs 50 lakh was procured and circulated during the recent municipal polls, with candidates who contested in the elections allegedly distributing the notes to induce voters.
