Mancherial: Section 163 of BNSS to be invoked in Kyathanpalli during chairperson elections

Authorities have imposed Section 163 of BNSS in Kyathanpalli ahead of municipal chairperson elections, restricting gatherings, protests and movement with weapons, while urging public cooperation to maintain law and order during the election process.

Mancherial: Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been invoked in Kyathanpalli town, which is set to witness elections to the Kyathanpalli municipality chairperson post on Saturday.

Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Amber Kishore Jha, in a statement, said that the section would come into force on Saturday from 6 am and remain in force till the process of election is complete. He said that gathering of more than four persons is prohibited. Legal action would be taken against those who provoke the public and make derogatory statements.


Protests, blockades of traffic, processions, rallies and meetings are not allowed without prior permission. No one should move carrying sticks, knives, guns or any other deadly weapons. Broadcasting songs through public address systems and making speeches that incite people against one another are prohibited.

Displaying placards, signs and advertisements defying lawful authority is also illegal during the implementation of Section 163 of BNSS. Action would be taken against those who violate the orders as per the law. People are requested to extend cooperation to the police in enforcing the Section meant for protecting law and order in the town.
