Mancherial: The curve of Covid-19 positive cases continued to rise at an alarming rate in the district. The trend has become a cause for concern to the citizens.
According to information provided by the authorities of the Medical and Health Department, the district logged 726 positive cases on Monday, the highest cases in the past 250 days. On Tuesday, the district reported 589 positive cases. The district saw 665 and 638 infections on Friday and Saturday, respectively. On Thursday, it recorded 632 positive cases.
The curve of the positive cases of the district began going up from January 13 after quite a long gap, indicating the onset of the third wave of infections. The district logged 161 positive cases and 143 infections a fortnight back. Since then, positive cases were on the rise. On January 17, the district registered 451 infections, showing a steep increase.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr Komram Balu urged the public to undergo vaccination if they were aged above 18. He requested the citizens to wear face masks and to practice physical distance to break the chain of the virus. He stated that a vaccination drive was being held in the district to cover the eligible persons and to contain the pandemic.
In the meantime, 6,796 persons were found to have developed symptoms of fever during the ongoing door-door survey carried out by the health and medical department till Monday. A total of 1,358 patients were advised to follow home isolation and were given kits. As many as 1,45, 222 houses were covered by the teams in the district so far.
