Mancherial: Woman dies during treatment; family members cry foul

Mancherial: A woman from Dandepalli mandal died while undergoing treatment due to alleged negligence of doctors at a private hospital here on Friday. It was the second such instance reported at the hospital in the gap of a month.

Family members said that Muttem Rajeshwari (55) of Kannepalli village in Dandepalli breathed her last while undergoing treatment early on Friday. She was admitted to the hospital after complaining of chest pain on Thursday night.

The family members staged a sit-in in front of the hospital demanding justice, carrying the body. They alleged that Rajeshwari died due to negligence of the doctors. They said that botched surgery performed by the doctors claimed her life. They wanted officials of the health department to probe into the incident and take action against the doctors.

Upon learning about the protest, police rushed to the spot and intervened. They assured the agitators of justice justice by registering a case against the doctors and taking up investigations.

On December 24, family members of a mechanic Konga Srinivas (45) from Kagaznagar town alleged he died of negligence of the doctors belonging to the same hospital. A few patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases who underwent treatment died here.
