Hyderabad: The charges levelled by a minor girl alleging inappropriate behaviour by Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay, and registration of a POCSO case have evoked strong reactions from different sections of society.
Taking to X (previously Twitter), actor Manchu Manoj said the incident had left him deeply disturbed and demanded swift action in the case. He said, “I strongly believe the #POCSO Act was created to make sure every minor girl gets justice no matter what. Power, position, influence or status should never come in the way. Every girl deserves equal justice under the Constitution and the law. Cases involving minors need real urgency, transparency and accountability. Any delay, silence or selective action only damages public faith in the justice system. This is not about politics or personalities. Truth must come out and justice must prevail. I sincerely hope the investigation and every legal procedure is carried out with urgency, fairness and transparency, free from any pressure of influence.”
Prominent social activist Sunitha Krishnan in her post on X wrote, “My earnest request to all parents, if your son commits a sexual offence don’t try to protect him in the name of parental responsibility. You will do a great service to society if you let him know through your actions that such behaviour deserves punishment.”
Meanwhile, a protest demonstration against Sai Bageerath was called for by Stree Mukti League, Disha Students’ Organization and Naujawan Bharat Sabha.
