Hyderabad: Certain areas in the city will experience disruptions to the Manjeera water supply for the next 48 hours. Floodwaters entered the pump house in Peddapur due to heavy rains.
HMWSSB managing director K Ashok Reddy, along with senior water board officials, visited the site and assessed the situation on Saturday.
“The heavy rains caused floodwaters to enter the Phase-3 pump house of the water treatment centre in Peddapur, which is part of the Manjeera project supplying drinking water to Hyderabad,” said an official statement.
The floodwaters submerged the Phase-3 pumps that supply water to Hyderabad, reducing the drinking water supply by 34 MGD. The water board official stated that it will take another 48 hours to complete the restoration work and resume pumping, and in the meantime, drinking water is being supplied to the affected areas through alternative arrangements.
