Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram’s next ‘Balan’ goes on floors
Director Chidambaram, of Manjummel Boys fame, begins shooting for his next film Balan. Written by Jithu Madhavan, the project features top technicians including Shyju Khaled, Sushin Syam, and Vivek Harshan.
Thiruvananthapuram: Director Chidambaram, best known for his blockbuster Malayalam film Manjummel Boys, has announced his next project titled Balan.
The film went on floors with a traditional pooja in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Sources close to the unit told IANS that the first phase of filming, which began on Sunday, is scheduled to continue for the next five days.
Produced by KVN Productions, led by Venkat K Narayana, in collaboration with Thespian Films headed by Shailaja Desai Fenn, the film has already generated huge interest as it brings together two powerhouses of Malayalam cinema — director Chidambaram and writer Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame.
KVN Productions is making its foray into Malayalam cinema with Balan. The production house has an impressive lineup of films including KD (Kannada), Toxic with Yash, Thalapathy 69 (Tamil), and Priyadarshan’s Thriller (Hindi).
Thespian Films took to Instagram to announce that the project had gone on floors.

Balan, which means “boy,” has been written by Jithu Madhavan and features an exceptional technical team.
The film will have cinematographer Shyju Khaled as director of photography, with Sushin Syam composing the music. Editing will be handled by Vivek Harshan.
Costumes are being designed by Sapna Kajha Rawther, with makeup by Ronex Xavier. Audiography is by Shijin Melvin Hutton, while Abhishek Nair and Ganapathi will serve as the film’s casting director and executive producer respectively.
