Hyderabad: Many banks across the police commissionerate were found to lack necessary security systems, said Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu.
The weak security system in banks came to light when the Rachakonda Police officials visited nearly 489 banks in the wake of the recent bank and ATM heist incidents and reviewed the security measures. The lapses were brought to the attention of the bank representatives and advised to take necessary steps.

Speaking at the meeting, Sudheer Babu said that banking sector is like a pillar for the survival of the society and the progress of various types of business and commercial activities.
He said it was found that several banks had deficiencies such as substandard buildings, weak security arrangements and locking system, lack of alertness or non-appointment of security guards, outdated alarm system, absence of CCTVs, and only single backup of data footage.
He made several suggestions to the bank representatives regarding security infrastructure and that new technology should be adopted from time to time and new security devices should be installed to prevent unauthorized access.
