Maoist killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh’s National Park area
A Maoist was killed during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s National Park area along the Bijapur-Dantewada border. Government data shows 203 Maoists were killed in 2025 so far, including several top leaders in recent months

Kothagudem: A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire between the security forces and Maoists in the National Park area on the borders of Bijapur-Dantewada districts of Chhattisgarh.
According to police, a joint operation by security forces has been carried out in the forests since Friday night after receiving information that naxalites of the Bhairamgarh Area Committee were present in the border area. The body of the Maoist was recovered along with a weapon, and the encounter is still going on.
According to government data, Chhattisgarh security forces have killed as many as 203 naxalites in 2025 in 14 encounters between jawans and naxalites. It may be noted that the CPI (Maoist) Party suffered heavy losses in the last couple of months as it lost many of its top leaders.
The Maoist Central Committee and Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee member Gajarla Ravi alias Uday, Venkata Ravi Lakshmi Chaitanya alias Aruna, Telangana State Committee member Mailarapu Adellu (53) alias Bhaskar, and Central Committee member Thentu Laxminarasimha Chalam alias Gautham alias Sudhakar were killed in different encounters in June.
On May 21, as many as 27 Maoists, including Maoist Party Central Committee general secretary Namballa Keshav Rao alias Basava Raju and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member Venkat Nageswara Rao alias Jangu Naveen, were killed by the security forces.
