Kothagudem: CPI (Maoist) Party Telangana State Committee has called for a bandh in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on June 20 in protest against the killing of top Maoists Chalam alias Gautham, Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar and seven others in encounters in Chhattisgarh.

In a statement released to the media, State Committee official spokesperson Jagan said the BJP government at the Centre that vowed to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026 had killed as many as 550 Maoists since January 2024 as part of ‘Operation Kagar’.

He alleged that thousands of security forces had surrounded the National Park region in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh carrying out area domination for a week from June 3 to 9. When the Maoists were retreating in the night on June 4, the party Central Committee member TLNS Chalam alias Gautham got separated from the dalam.

The next morning Gautham, who was alone, was hemmed in by security forces and died fighting them. On June 6, Bhaskar was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces. On June 6 and 7, National Park area committee member Raini, who was sick, was caught, tortured and killed at Irupagutta village, he alleged.

Komaram Bheem-Mancherial division cadre Santhosh (Bhaskar guard), Rajani, Lalsu and Irupagutta resident Kudiam Mahesh were killed in a similar manner, Jagan alleged.
