Kothagudem: Two teachers who were working in the Naxal-affected areas in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district were allegedly killed by Maoists after being abducted last night.
The deceased teacher (Shiksha Doot), Vinod Madde (32), a resident of Pillur, was posted at Kondapadgu Primary School. The other teacher, Suresh Meta (28), was working at Primary School, Tekmeta. Both the bodies were found thrown in the forests near their villages.
According to villagers, Maoists picked up both of them from their houses last night and killed them a few hours after questioning them. The incident occurred under the limits of Farsegarh police station area in the district, and the villagers were yet to file a complaint with the police.
It might be noted that ‘Shiksha Doots’ were involved in the campaign to reopen closed schools in Naxal-affected villages under the Shiksha Doot scheme. Maoists were said to have killed six people, including two students, on suspicion of being informers in Bijapur in the past fortnight.
