Maoists obstructing agency area development work: Kothagudem SP

Kothagudem: Maoists were thwarting development works in agency villages, alleged Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt. In a statement here on Saturday he informed the construction of a new bridge over the Gubbalamangi stream at Chintaguppa Dummugudem mandal in the district nearing completion. The bridge was aimed to connect Telangana and Chhattisgarh states.
However, the naxals have tried to obstruct construction work by setting construction equipment and machinery on fire on Tuesday. Police have information that around 80 members of the militia and Maoists belonging to Telangana cadre were involved in the act. A JCB, four tractors, one concrete mixing machine and a tractor trolley were burnt. In addition to that Maoists have forcefully snatched away some money, three tractors, a motorcycle, clothes and gold from the residents of Chintaguppa village, SP said.
The innocent agency residents were being looted by the Maoists besides causing hindrance in the development of agency villages. Hence people in agency villages should inform police about movements of Maoists to police, he said. SP appreciates volleyball player
Earlier in the day, SP appreciated pro volleyball league player Thorram Naveen Kumar of Patamaredubaka village of Dummugudem mandal for excelling in the sport at national level. The player called Dutt at his office on Saturday.
He was now representing the Chennai team in the ongoing pro volleyball league. The player was trained at Kinnerasani Sports School. His sporting skills came to the fore during a Khelo India sports tournament conducted by Kothagudem police in 2019 .
Dutt assured Naveen Kumar all possible help to him in future and wished him to reach great heights. Coach Rambabu, District Sports Officer Veeru Naik, Hari Singh and others were present.
