Kothagudem: CPI (Maoist) Telangana State Committee spokesperson Jagan has refuted reports suggesting that party State Committee member Damodar was planning to surrender to the police.
Several news dailies and social media platforms had claimed that Damodar would surrender on June 1. Jagan alleged that police were deliberately spreading such misinformation. Similar claims had been made earlier, including false reports of Damodar being killed in encounters or surrendering, he said, terming the reports part of a psychological war aimed at misleading the public and confusing the party’s cadre.
Jagan clarified that the Maoist party had no connection with a statement released on June 26 against Minister Seethakka.
Jagan also said the Telangana government opposed ‘Operation Kagar’ and had demanded that the Centre put an end to police encounters. However, he alleged that police were threatening innocent tribal people in Mulugu, Kothagudem and Asifabad districts by summoning them to police stations despite no active Maoist activity in Telangana.
