Medak: Masaipet in Medak district came into being on Wednesday as the 541st Mandal in Telangana State. The Mandal was created with six villages from Veldurthy Mandal and three villages from Chegunta Mandal.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated the new Mandal office in the presence of MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, State Women’s Commission Chairman V Sunithalakshma Reddy, Collector S Harish, MLAs M Padmadevendar Reddy, C Madan Reddy and others. The Minister has also inaugurated Masaipet Police Station and Rythu Vedika.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Harish Rao has said that the Telangana government had decentralised the administration by creating new Districts, Revenue Divisions, Mandals and Gram Panchayats. Saying that they had created 103 new Mandals across Telangana since the State was formed, Rao has said that they have also given Gram Panchayath status to 4,085 villages across the State in the last 7 years.
He has said that the Telangana government had achieved the development in just seven years which the previous governments could not realise in the previous 70 years.
Remembering the days of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Rao has said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had initiated several steps like supplying free 24X7 electricity to farm sector, potable water to each house under Mission Bhagiratha and irrigation water by completing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). He has said that the farmers in Medak district are irrigating crops in 2.12 lakhs compared to previous Yasagi’s 70 thousand as there was abundant water available.
MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy has said that they used to stage protest programmes for hundreds of days to raise the issue of creating a new mandal or a gram Panchayat before the State formed. However, Reddy has said that the Chief Minister of Telangana creates a mandal with a stroke of the pen.
