Hyderabad: To promote the use of face mask in the battle against the coronavirus, popular city-based store Maqdoom Bros has come up with an innovative Mask Maharaja.
The store at Madina which has a long history dating back to 132 years, set up a 10 feet mannequin and had face masks fixed all over it. A total of 250 medical masks have gone into the effort and Maqdoom Bros describes it as the world’s tallest mannequin dressed in a suit made of so many masks.

During these days of Covid-19 pandemic, wearing a mask and following social distancing is the only preventive measure to protect oneself, says Faiz Mohiuddin, one of the owners of the store.
Maqdoom Bros officially catered to Nizams, the rulers of the Hyderabad State, and also presented some of their ethnic wear to global leaders when they visited India. They have also presented Sherwanis to some of the visiting cricketers and others.
The retailers say the Mask Maharaja is an effort by them to highlight the importance of face masks in the relentless fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Presently run by the fourth-generation, the store consistently comes up with new ideas on social issues.
Faiz said the business was closed for almost half of the year due to lockdown and lately customers are returning to shopping. “Given the global reports of a second wave, we have decided to come up with this unique giant size mask man,” he says adding, “we have spent Rs 3 lakh for the Mask Maharaja as well as on the outfit.”
The store also offers discounts to customers who wear masks to promote the habit of wearing masks.
