Adilabad: A woman sustained minor injuries when her neighbour threw acid on her following a petty dispute at Lakkaram village in Utnoor mandal centre on Thursday. He was arrested by the police.
Utnoor Sub-Inspector Bharath Suman said the accused was Kottapalli Ramesh, a mason from Lakkaram and the injured was Wagmore Pushpa.
Pushpa suffered burn injuries on her legs and hands when Ramesh threw acid used in the cleaning of toilets while she was moving in front of her residence. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Utnoor mandal centre. She received about 10 per cent burn injuries and her condition was stable.
Based on a complaint lodged by Pushpa, a case was registered against Ramesh under Section 326 A (Acid attack) of the Indian Penal Code, and investigations are taken up.
Meanwhile, members of tribal rights organisations and local public representatives consoled the woman and requested the police to take stern action against the perpetrator of the crime.
