Massive debris cleanup begins in Gachibowli’s Anjaiah Nagar

Authorities in Gachibowli have launched a large-scale debris removal drive at Anjaiah Nagar after demolishing six unauthorised buildings adjoining a collapsed illegal structure. Residents of Jayadarshini Residency complained of sleepless nights due to noise from the clearance work, which is expected to take up to a month.

Hyderabad: A major debris removal operation has begun at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli. The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) jointly took part in the debris operation.

Following the tragic incident on August 22, the collapse of an illegal seven-storey structure that claimed two lives, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and HYDRAA took immediate, uncompromising action.

Moving swiftly to prevent further catastrophe, authorities identified and systematically razed six adjoining unauthorized buildings. Operating heavy machinery non-stop for nearly a week, demolition teams safely dismantled the structures. The result is a vast, small hill-like accumulation of structural debris at the site.

A massive debris removal operation is underway at Anjaiah Nagar to clear the area and restore safety for the adjoining residential colonies of Jayadarshini Residency and Sterling White Fields. The clearance process is being carried out during night-time.

Flat owners of Jayadarshini Residency raised concerns over heavy noise caused by debris being loaded into vehicles and transported from the site. They said the noise was causing sleepless nights and inconveniencing children and elderly residents, angering some flat owners.

CMC officials said clearing the debris would take at least three weeks or a month.
