Massive security arrangements underway at Uppal stadium ahead of IPL match in Hyderabad

Around 450 surveillance cameras were being installed in and outside the stadium including at checkpoints and parking areas. "A Joint Command and Control Room is set up to monitor the surveillance cameras," the commissioner said, adding that anti-sabotage teams would be on the ground until the match is over.

Hyderabad: A total of 2,700 police personnel, elite armed teams like the OCTOPUS, surveillance cameras that will not miss any inch of the sprawling premises, and sniffer dogs prowling around, will be part of the security measures being put in place ahead of the 18th Edition TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

Briefing the media on the arrangements, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu on Friday said the force to be deployed includes personnel from various security wings, traffic personnel, law and order personnel, six platoons of the Armed forces, OCTOPUS and Special Branch teams, SHE teams, CCS teams and Special Operations Teams apart from tear gas parties, Mounted Police and those operating the Vajra water cannon vehicle.


Around 450 surveillance cameras were being installed in and outside the stadium including at checkpoints and parking areas. “A Joint Command and Control Room is set up to monitor the surveillance cameras,” the commissioner said, adding that anti-sabotage teams would be on the ground until the match is over.

An effective communication system would be maintained with Very High Frequency sets provided to the personnel and scanners are installed for easy detection of explosives and other prohibited material.

“Check-posts are being set up at all entry points for anti-sabotage checks and frisking,” Sudheer Babu said, adding that special teams would be deployed at each gate to check mobile phones of spectators.

Parking areas provided by the Traffic Police:

• Car pass holders of outer Gate-1 and 2 should come from Ramanthapur side and park their vehicles in parking A and B inside the stadium.
• The differently abled to enter from Ramanthapur road and enter from outer Gate-3, after parking vehicles at parking-B.
• Those at Gate Nos-4 to 10 should enter stadium from Habsiguda-Uppal main road and park vehicles at Genpact Parking or Ramanthapur Church ground parking

• Cameras

• Cigarettes

• Electronic gadgets

• Matchbox

• Lighters

• Sharp metal/plastic objects

• Binoculars

• Umbrella

• Writing pens

• Batteries

• Helmets

• Perfumes

• Bags

• Batteries
