Mattress making unit goes up in flames in Mailardevpally

Hyderabad: A fire broke out in a mattress making unit in Roshan Colony in Mailardevpally on the city outskirts here on Saturday morning. No casualties were reported as the warehouse was closed.
Officials suspect a short circuit could have led to the fire. Around 8 am, local residents noticed the fire and thick smoke emerging from the unit which is surrounded by residential colonies. They alerted the fire department and police immediately.
A fire engine was rushed to the spot and after over an hour of fire fighting by the fire personnel, the fire was doused.
The unit was full of fibre, cloth and synthetic material, due to which thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, triggering panic among the residents.
Officials said the cost of the property damaged was yet to be estimated.
The Mailardevpally police are investigating.
